Unfortunately, I’ve decided to discontinue publishing An American Artisan online magazine.
As much as I have enjoyed the adventure of learning to publish a web-based magazine, I grossly underestimated the amount of time that is required to publish a quarterly magazine. After conducting the interviews, writing the articles, assembling the magazine layout, and publishing the magazine, there is little time left for me to put on my advertising hat and find business interested in paying for advertising. My goal was to have advertising pay my bills rather than asking readers to pay for a subscription.
My attempt at redesigning the magazine into an online resource for artisans was met with mixed reviews from readers. My take is that there is already many resources available with this type of information, and An American Artisan would join the crowd.
Thanks for reading and I wish everyone success in their artisan trade!
